What is a health and wellness coach?

A health and wellness coach is a trusted partner and mentor who will help you find your “why” for making a change by listening, discovering, clarifying a focus, eliciting a plan and supporting every step of the way. 

Why seek a health and wellness coach?

A health and wellness coach can help you make self-directed, lasting changes in such lifestyle areas as relationships, health and work; to align with your values and enhance your overall well-being. 

Can I make these desired changes by myself? 

Yes, it is possible, even though lifestyle changes are much easier, and faster, when you work with an ally or allies. Most people start and stop many times. If you could have done it by yourself, it’s likely you would have done so by now. 

What happens in a coaching session?

A coaching session devotes time and space to explore your current and desired vision of well-being, and prioritizes what you value most to develop a plan, including doable action steps, and accountability.

How does coaching differ from consulting, or therapy? 

The goal of coaching is to create lasting lifestyle improvement. In coaching, the client directs the discovery, the action plan and desired outcomes. The client also creates the vision of a better way of living, and the answers lie within. The coaching process teases them out.

In consulting, the consultant provides expertise and direction. The consultant figures out what needs to be done to “fix” a problem/issue. 

In therapy, the therapist typically focuses on the past.

What happens at our first meeting?

At the first meeting, we will review the coaching agreement, set the foundation for our relationship, talk about strategies, and may use a self-discovery tool/assessment to get started. We will talk about desired outcomes. 

How do I know how to find the right coach for me? 

It is crucial that you and the coach are a good match for each other. Before entering into a coaching agreement, take time for a complimentary meeting and informal discussion.
